Invisalign is a relatively new treatment that delivers that dazzling smile without any of the pain of an orthodontist or the discomfort of a brace. It’s a refreshingly simple and effective treatment for crooked teeth that begins delivering results right away.
Many of us will remember being teenagers and having a brace for what seemed like eternity. As well as oral hygiene issues, braces brought psychological and social challenges too, which made them a difficult cross to bear even if the results were worth it.
If you didn’t need a brace, or just didn’t have one, it’s never too late. Invisalign helps adults and teenagers alike achieve that winning smile without the ironmongery.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is essentially a highly personalized gum shield that sits over your teeth and aligns them over time. Much like the braces of old, they gradually encourage teeth to straighten. As the name suggests, the Invisalign aligner is almost invisible, making them much more effective both physically and psychologically than braces. That’s why we like them so much.
Invisalign aligners are designed specifically for your mouth and are created from molds taken from your teeth. We take dental impressions and photographs to generate a 3D model of your mouth and jaw movement to ensure you get the very best fit possible.
You will be provided with two aligners, which you wear for two weeks each. You will need to wear them for 22 hours per day, every day for between 6 and 18 months to get the full benefit from the treatment. At the end, you should have a mouth full of healthy, straight teeth!
Why Use Invisalign?
There is more to having straight teeth and a dazzling smile than just being happy. A mouth of straight teeth is easier to look after, offers easier brushing, fewer places for plaque to grow and fewer gaps that can be difficult to brush. Of course, the psychological and wellbeing benefits of having a confident smile cannot be understated as many of our patients will tell you!
Invisalign is easier to wear, almost invisible and very effective. It’s a great way to manage a range of dental challenges and comes with few of the downsides of traditional braces. It isn’t suitable for everyone and cannot fix everything, so you will need to talk things through with us before you take the treatment.
