There are many remedies for an unattractive smile, but none have such a revolutionary effect as Invisalign. As a modern replacement to braces that is almost invisible unless you know what you’re looking for, it has changed people smiles and their lives for the better.
Gone are those geeky wire braces that we see from the eighties. Gone are those shy people with braces too scared to smile or hiding behind their hands in case they are called names. Invisalign is the new way to flip an unattractive smile full of badly aligned teeth into that fantastic Hollywood smile.
Does Invisalign really work?
We do a lot of Invisalign work here at Aesthetic Family Dentistry. One of the most common questions we are asked is if it actually works. Given how a single solution completely changes how braces work, skepticism is common. We always have a simple answer, yes it does work.
How does it work?
Invisalign works in conjunction with a computer model called Clincheck. It enables us to visualize how your teeth will look at the end of a treatment. It allows us to break that treatment down into stages and fabricate the aligners to achieve that end result. It’s a clever system that allows us to control exactly how your smile will end up.
What are the main benefits of Invisalign?
The most obvious benefit is that of aesthetics. Traditional braces can be seen from a mile away. While still effective, it has that knock on effect to confidence. Invisalign are just about invisible which has none of the psychological impact of a wire brace. They still transform an unattractive smile, but without the social or psychological costs.
Another benefit is that an Invisalign aligner isn’t cemented to the teeth, meaning we don’t have to intrude very much at all. Food doesn’t get stuck in the brace, you don’t have to watch what you eat, you don’t have to check for stuck food before smiling and you don’t have the potential for enamel wear with this system either.
Will my insurance cover Invisalign?
If you have orthodontic coverage on your policy then yes it should be covered. Many plans have maximum benefit and age-limit clauses so it’s a good idea to check with your provider before scheduling treatment.
